PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY: IT'S ALL ON ME with Danny Kuhn
Length: 2 hours (flexible)
Audience: All staff
Objective: As topical as today's headlines, personal accountability in the workplace may seem like a thing of the past. In our fault-finding society, the difference between accountability and responsibility is sometimes grey. The key is to promote an open communication organization with safe disclosure and a personal stake in its integrity. PROFESSIONAL ETHICS with Eddie Samson
Length: Adaptable to your specific training need
Audience: All staff
Objective: In today's world of diverse thought and practice, are there still 'bright line' issues in the workplace? If so, how do they affect efficiency and effectiveness? What roles do managers and staff play in determining and communicating ethical standards? Using experiences, scenarios, anecdotes, and discussion, participants are led through the process of clarifying their own bright lines, and reflecting on how they relate to the overall mission.
A version of this program has been mandatory for all newly-appointed U. S. Probation Officers at their National Training Academy, and is adaptable to businesses and agencies of all types.
PERFORMANCE APPRAISALS: BOTH SIDES OF THE DESK with Danny Kuhn
Separate Management and Line Staff versions
Length: 2 1/2 hours each
Audience:
Management version, anyone who performs performance appraisals. Line
staff version, anyone who receives performance appraisals.
Objective;
To enhance performance by making appraisals meaningful, showing
that they are a part of an improvement process instead of an annual
chore dreaded by everyone.
These two classes balance the need
for detail with the big picture of enhanced performance. It encourages a
collaborative approach and two-way communication. The management
version uses exercises to identify and eliminate the most common
mistakes in the appraisal process, and emphasizes year-round performance
management. The line staff version reminds employees of the need for
active participation in the process, from goal setting to record
keeping. The program is useful regardless of the type of appraisal
instrument used. While the management segment can be presented as a
stand-alone class, the performance improvement process is enhanced by
offering the line staff version as well.
